Monitoring & Treatment of your Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a life long disease. Nerve fibre damage and visual loss are permanent and not usually apparent as symptom until very late in the disease. Therefore regular and accurate monitoring is very important to detect the earliest possible signs of the presence of the disease or disease progression and to act upon them.

Mr Lindfield is lead Glaucoma Consultant at the Royal Surrey County Hospital and  has worked in some of the best glaucoma units in the country. He uses the latest technology to detect subtle early glaucoma and highlight when progression of the disease is occurring.

A “One Stop Glaucoma Assessment” includes:

Intraocular pressure measurement with calibrated Goldmann Applanation Tonometry
Drainage angle assessment using Gonioscopy, 3D anterior segment laser imaging (or both) as per individual requirements
Visual field assessment with Zeiss Humphrey visual field analyser
Digital measurement of Retinal Nerve Fibre Layer (RNFL) in peri-papillary and posterior pole zones
Detection of secondary factors such as corneal thickness, pseudoexfoliation, pigment dispersion.
Detailed review of all measurements both clinically and electronically to detect early signs of disease progression
